Right, it’s time to change things up a bit 🙂
We’ve had a bit of a run of deep-thinks books, and now I reckon it might be time for us to read something fantastical – this month we’ll be reading SPARK, the first book in Rachael Craw’s Death by Design series.
And yes, I’m aware we’ve had a bit of a run of NZ books too – I know this is supposed to be LoveOZYA, but I hope folks don’t mind if we give a little bookish love to our neighbours across the water.
Here’s the blurb for SPARK, just to get you hooked:
“You think God has a loophole for people who don’t have a choice?” Jamie shrugs. “Hope so, otherwise we’re screwed.”
Evie doesn’t have a choice. One day she’s an ordinary seventeen year old, grieving for her mother. The next, she’s a Shield, the result of a decades-old experiment gone wrong, bound by DNA to defend her best friend from an unknown killer. The threat could come at home, at school, anywhere. All Evie knows is that it will be a fight to the death. And then there’s Jamie. Irresistible. Off-limits.
SPARK was a Notable Book in the Storylines YA category, and longlisted for the LIANZA award (YA), and is just an all-round helluva good time. Rachael Craw is a top chick, and I’m really hoping she’ll be able to join us for a Facebook livechat this month, so we can ask her about SPARK, the series as a whole, her writing routine, and her new book baby BLACKWATER CULL, which I understand is going to be incredibly awesome (and sounds like a cross between THE CALL and SCORPIO RACES, so yes, awesome).
Happy reading, team 🙂
