Holiday recs, and new moves afoot for #LoveOzYAbookclub 2020!

Hello friends 🙂  You might have noticed that I’ve been a bit slow and lumbering this year, like a large dinosaur (think Apatosaurus, or maybe Triceratops – triceratops are kinda cute!), and that updates and announcements have slowed right down. And there’s a reason for that! Mostly the reason is that I’ve been overstretched with writing, work and parenting commitments. And I have a book release+overseas travel+more work stuff next year! Argh, what to do…

The solution turned out to be staring me right in the face 🙂

I’m very pleased to announce that in 2020, #LoveOzYAbookclub will have TWO moderators – please give a warm welcome my co-mod extraordinaire, Emmaly White Gridley!

Emmaly is a regular participant in #LoveOzYAbookclub, and has been a member for years. The current mod of Mundie Moms, she has been involved in the YA book community for a long time, is a keen reader, and (the most important requirement) loooooves Australian YA. She runs a large alpaca farm (Maylands Alpacas) with her family when she’s not reading and attending bookish events.

Emm and I will be taking it in turns to do bookposts and choose titles next year. I think it’ll be great to have an injection of fresh energy for bookclub, and I’m really looking forward to seeing which Australian YA books get chosen! If you have any suggestions for books you’d like to read and review in bookclub for 2020, please feel free to add them to the thread for this post in the FB group – we try to choose a mix of titles, from loved classics to brand new releases, and we also dip into a variety of genres. There’s an exciting new crop of OzYA titles coming out next year, and I can’t wait to get started!

In the meantime, I hope you’re considering giving books for Christmas – I know I’m always so very happy to find book-shaped parcels under the tree 🙂 If you’d like to grab some of the titles we’ve read this year in bookclub, here’s the 2019 list:

And if you’d like to look into other YA books, here’s a selection you might like (these are all chosen by me, so YMMV, but I love them all!):

I hope this gives you some gift inspiration for the holiday season! And I’ll sign off now for 2019, with best wishes to you all – everyone who’s joined in bookclub this year and enthused over OzYA books with me, and all the authors whose books we’ve read and enjoyed this year. Happy holidays, travel safe if you’re travelling, and have a joyous and happy New Year!

xxEllie
